I find when sparring someone who has an agressive, come forward, you hit me, I hit you "strategy", I get kind of lost. I'm trying to be technical but if one person goes hard, and basically ignores everything I do at 60-70%, I pick it up to 80% just to survive, they go to 90%, we both go to 100% then we're basically trying to knock each other out. Anybody else have this experience? And if so, what do you do about it?

I would pause and tell him to take it easy. Going tit for tat is probably not a good idea because it can only escalate the agression, and both will end up killing each other...

you can give some medicine back or you can tell one of the instructors to give them some medicine back. i see that when people go hard on nueng, he does not go hard back though. he does trickier combinations.

I have on occasions encountered such a sparring partner. Sparring is to hone our fluidity and technique in a fight. It is not all about using power and strength to immobilize your partner. So, when a sparring partner is too aggressive, try the following:

- feedback to him that he is too aggressive/eager. He should cool down. Remind him the purpose of sparring.
- if he continues, tell the instructor that your partner is too aggressive and ask for a change of partner. The instructor will enforce the purpose of sparring and tick the aggressive person off. He will probably change your partner.

Remember that we are all here to learn. We are not here to prove we are better by aggressively attacking our partner.

Try this..
