Team Evolve to fight in UFC again

Rafael dos Anjos, an official member of the Evolve Fight Team, will be fighting in the UFC (the Ultimate Fighting Championship) on January 11, 2010.

He has trained hard for the fight and is in excellent shape. Rafael has a very well-rounded game of good striking and excellent ground technique. For his standup training, Rafael trained in Singapore under the famous Sityodtong Muay Thai Team with Kru Nuengpichit, Kru Yoddecha, Kru Chatri, Kru Yodrit, Kru Saknarong, and Kru Daorung. A top level BJJ Black Belt, Rafael sharpened his ground skills at both Evolve Singapore and Evolve Brazil under BJJ Legends Rafael "Gordinho" Correa de Lima and Roberto "Gordo" Correa de Lima.

Rafael will be facing Kyle Bradley, an aggressive puncher and wrestler.

Renzo Gracie to fight in the UFC!

The legendary Renzo Gracie has signed a multi-fight agreement with the UFC. His first fight will be against former UFC Champion Matt Hughes on April 10, 2010.

Evolve Mixed Martial Arts is the first and only Renzo Gracie Affiliate Academy in Asia.

Team Evolve wins at Art of War 15!

BJJ World Champion and official member of the Evolve Fight Team, Leandro Brodinho, won convincingly at the Art of War 15 in Beijing, China. In less than 1 minute, Leandro scored 2 takedowns and was able to secure a triangle choke from the mount to force his Korean opponent to tap.

Leandro is one of 7 Black Belt Instructors at Evolve Singapore. Congratulations, Brodinho!

Evolve wins another World Championship

Evolve Mixed Martial Arts® won a gold medal at the 2009 No Gi World Championships. Antonio Braga Neto, a member of the official Evolve Fight Team and an Evolve Instructor, won the No Gi World Championship for the 2nd consecutive year in his weight class. He also won the Silver Medal in the Absolute category. At 22 years old, Braga Neto is one of the most decorated grapplers in the world today.

Evolve Mixed Martial Arts® is the only academy in Asia with World Championship titles in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing, and No Gi Grappling.

Evolve to compete in the Art of War again

Team Evolve will be competing again at the Art of War, one of the largest MMA organizations in Asia. BJJ World Champion Leandro Brodinho, an official member of the Evolve Fight Team and an Evolve Instructor, will be fighting at Art of War 15 next Saturday on November 28, 2009 in Beijing, China. Antonio Braga Neto was also scheduled to fight, but suffered a severe knee injury 10 days ago and was forced to pull out of his fight.

Brodinho will be fighting a well-known MMA fighter from Korea.

BJJ Legend Gordo arrives to Evolve

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend and 4th Degree Black Belt World Champion, Roberto "Gordo" Correa de Lima, is arriving this Saturday to Evolve Mixed Martial Arts to teach for a month in Singapore.

Gordo is the inventor of the half-guard and has won all of the major BJJ Championships a few times each. As one of the top BJJ masters in Brazil, he has produced many BJJ World Champions such as Marcio "Pe de Pano" Cruz, Antonio Braga Neto, Leandro Brodinho Issa, and many others. Gordo has also produced UFC fighters such as Rafael Dos Anjos and Marcio Cruz.

Gordo is the head of Evolve Brazil and is the older brother of Rafael "Gordinho" Correa de Lima, the Head Instructor of the Evolve BJJ Program in Singapore.

Another BJJ World Champion joins Evolve

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Mundials World Champion, Zoro Moreira, has joined the elite Evolve Instructor Team in Singapore. With his addition, there are now 7 BJJ Black Belt Instructors from Brazil at Evolve Singapore. 3 out of the 7 are World Champions. The entire Evolve Instructor Team now stands at 32 world-class instructors for Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and MMA.

Zoro is a professional MMA fighter with a 3-0 record. He holds a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the legendary Roberto "Gordo" Correa de Lima, the head of Evolve Brazil.

Zoro Moreira is originally from Brazil.

Please give Zoro a warm welcome to Singapore!

Team Evolve to fight at UFC again!

Rafael Dos Anjos, a member of the official Evolve Fight Team and an Evolve Instructor, will be fighting in the UFC again in January 2010. Most recently, he beat Rob Emerson at UFC 103. The UFC (the Ultimate Fighting Championship) is the largest MMA organization in the world. Only the very best MMA fighters in the world are invited to compete in the UFC.

WBA Boxing World Champion joins Evolve

Evolve Mixed Martial Arts® is pleased to announce that WBA Boxing World Champion Yodsanan 3K Battery Sor Nanthachai Sityodtong has joined the elite Evolve Instructor Team on a permanent basis to teach Boxing and Muay Thai.

Yodsanan was WBA Boxing World Champion from 2002-2005 and is currently the 4th ranked fighter in the world today. He will be fighting for another World title next year. One of Thailand's most famous boxers, Yodsanan has a professional record of 58 wins with 47 KOs and only 3 losses. He is known to be one of the hardest punchers in the world in his weight class today.

BJJ Legend Gordo is coming to Evolve

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend and 4th Degree Black Belt World Champion, Roberto "Gordo" Correa de Lima, is coming to Evolve Mixed Martial Arts to teach for a month in Singapore.

Gordo is the head of Evolve Brazil and is the older brother of Rafael "Gordinho" Correa de Lima, the Head Instructor of the Evolve BJJ Program in Singapore.

Another BJJ Black Belt Champion joins Evolve

Evolve Mixed Martial Arts is pleased to announce the addition of a new Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Champion to its elite Instructor Team. With the addition of Joao Carneiro, Evolve Singapore will have a total of 6 Black Belt instructors from Brazil with 2 Mundials World Champions.

Joao is a Black Belt under the legendary Gordo Correa de Lima. He is the winner of numerous regional and national competitions in Brazil. His favorite techniques are the armbar and triangle choke. He is also a certified Yoga Instructor.

Please give a warm welcome to Joao when he arrives to Singapore in a couple weeks!

Muay Thai Legend joins Evolve!

Evolve Mixed Martial Arts is pleased to announce that the greatest Muay Thai fighter in history, Samart Payakaroon, has joined the elite Evolve Instructor Team to teach on a regular basis as an official Evolve Instructor. He will be teaching on a rotating schedule basis from Thailand throughout the year.

UFC Fighter comes to Evolve

UFC Fighter Rafael Dos Anjos is coming to Evolve Singapore to train his Muay Thai under the elite Sityodtong Team with Nuengpichit Sityodtong, Yoddecha Sityodtong, Chatri Sityodtong, Daorung Sityodtong, and Yodrit Sityodtong. Rafael is coming off a recent win against Rob Emerson at UFC 103 last month.

A BJJ Black Belt under the legendary Gordo Correa de Lima, Rafael Dos Anjos is a member of the Evolve Fight Team and trains out of Evolve Brazil.

With Gordinho Correa de Lima and Chatri Sityodtong in his corner as his ground and striking coaches respectively, Antonio Braga Neto will be fighting at Art of War 14 this coming Saturday September 26, 2009 in Macau. A member of the official Evolve Fight Team, Braga Neto is a BJJ Black Belt World Champion with excellent striking ability. In addition to his BJJ under the legendary Gordo, Braga has also trained Muay Thai under the legendary Sityodtong Team at Evolve. Braga Neto is also currently an Instructor at Evolve Mixed Martial Arts.

Team Evolve wins 1st Place!

Under the guidance of Gordinho, Team Evolve won 1st Place overall at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Thailand this weekend. Team Evolve won the most medals in the tournament and also secured the most number of submission victories. All credit goes to Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, the official BJJ Program, at Evolve Mixed Martial Arts. Renzo Gracie is widely recognized as having one of the most effective systems from the Gracie Family for both street and sport Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Rafael Dos Anjos, a member of the official Evolve Fight Team, secured a unanimous decision victory against Rob Emerson at UFC 103. Gordinho's older brother, Gordo (head of Evolve Brazil), cornered Dos Anjos for the fight.

2 More Champion Instructors join Evolve!

Evolve Mixed Martial Arts® is pleased to announce 2 permanent additions to its world-class Instructor Team in Singapore.

For Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Almiro Barros joins the Evolve Instructor Team in Singapore on a permanent basis. He is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt from Brazil with over 15 years of experience and many regional and national championship titles under his belt. Evolve Singapore now has 4 full-time permanent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt instructors.

For Muay Thai, Yodrit Sityodtong joins the Evolve Instructor Team in Singapore on a permanent basis from the Sityodtong Gym in Thailand. He is a Muay Thai Champion with over 20 years of experience and 80 professional fights at top stadiums such as Lumpinee Stadium. He is known as a knee specialist with devastating knees. Yodrit has also fought in professional Boxing.

Another BJJ World Champion coming to Evolve!

Renzo Gracie Fighter, 3-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion, and IFL professional MMA fighter, Fabio Leopoldo, will be coming to Evolve.

Igor Gracie comes to Evolve

Igor Gracie, one of Renzo Gracie's Black Belt instructors, is coming to Evolve in August to train Muay Thai under the Sityodtong Team as well as to teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with his long-time friend, Gordinho.

Igor will be the second member of the legendary Gracie family to visit Evolve. Renzo Gracie visited Evolve for its Grand Opening and also gave a special seminar in January 2009. Other well-known members of the Gracie family will be coming to train and to teach at Evolve in the future as well.

A professional MMA fighter, Igor Gracie is a Black Belt under Carlos Gracie Jr.

FREE Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Seminar by World Champion!

BJJ 3rd Degree Black Belt World Champion, Rafael "Gordinho" Correa, will be giving a Special Seminar on the SECRETS of the half-guard! Everyone is welcome to attend!

As you probably know, Gordinho is considered to be one of the greatest masters of the half-guard in the world. His older brother, Roberto "Gordo" Correa, is the superstar inventor of the half-guard and runs one of the most famous Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academies in Brazil. Gordo has produced many World Champions such as Antonio Braga Neto, the current Super Heavyweight World Champion, and many more. Brodinho Silva is also a current student under Gordo. Gordo and Gordinho are known as the half-guard brothers for inventing new escapes, submissions, and techniques from the half guard. Evolve Brazil opens

Evolve Brazil opened last week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with over 450 members.

The legendary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 4th Degree Black Belt master Roberto "Gordo" Correa, the inventor of the half-guard, is heading up operations for Evolve Brazil. He has won every major BJJ title at least once. Having trained with the Gracie Family all of his life, Gordo is considered to be one of the top 5 BJJ masters in Brazil. He has produced many BJJ World Champions including current Super Heavyweight BJJ Black Belt World Champion Antonio Braga Neto, BJJ World Champion Leandro Thomas da Silva, and many others. He has also produced many MMA fighters such as current UFC fighter Rafael dos Anjos.

Gordo's younger brother is BJJ Black Belt World Champion Rafael "Gordinho" Correa de Lima and is the head of the Evolve Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program in Singapore.

Team Renzo Gracie wins at Art of War

Team Renzo Gracie had an impressive showing at the Art of War, the largest MMA event in China.

Rolles Gracie, an official member of Team Renzo Gracie, won his Asia MMA debut fight convincingly against Russian Baga Agaev with a rear naked choke in the first round. His official cornermen were Renzo Gracie, Gordinho Correa, Chatri Sityodtong, Igor Gracie and Fabio Leopoldo. For pictures, click here.

Rickson Gracie, Royler Gracie, Royce Gracie, Bas Rutten, Big John McCarthy, Thales Leites, Fabricio Werdum, Demian Maia, and other top names were in attendance as guest celebrities.

In related news, the official Evolve Fight Team plans to send some of its fighters to future MMA events in Asia including the Art of War (www.mmachina.com), Sengoku, Dream, Ming Wu, and others.

Special Buddy Day this Saturday at Evolve!

There will be a Special Buddy Day at Evolve this coming Saturday May 30, 2009. Evolve members will be allowed to invite their friends and family to train for FREE with our World Champions.

The BJJ Buddy Day will be from 1100am to 1200pm. The Muay Thai Buddy Day will be from 100pm to 200pm.

World Champion Braga Neto wins again

BJJ Black Belt Super Heavyweight World Champion, Antonio Braga Neto, an official member of the Evolve Fight Team and Gordo Jiu Jitsu, celebrated with a victory over the weekend at the Brazilian Nationals. Braga Neto won the Super Heavyweight title again with a beautiful submission. Unfortunately, a stroke of bad luck prevented him from winning the Absolute division.

Evolve to open a major location in Brazil

Evolve is in the process of opening a major location in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It will launch shortly with over 50 BJJ Black Belts and several World Champions in the very near future. It will immediately become one of the top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academies in Brazil.

There will be many benefits for current Evolve members in Singapore. First, Evolve will have a large supply of world-class BJJ Black Belts coming to Singapore in the future to help raise the level of Team Evolve to world-class standards. Second, all Evolve members in Singapore will be allowed to train for FREE in Brazil. Third, all Evolve members will now be allowed to train for FREE at any Renzo Gracie Academy in the world. Fourth, Team Evolve (Singapore + Brazil) will have top level competitors in the BJJ Mundials this year as well as the UFC!

Gordinho to coach at Art of War

BJJ Black Belt World Champion and Evolve Instructor, Rafael Gordinho Correa de Lima, will be one of the key coaches in Rolles Gracie's corner in the upcoming Art of War (www.mmachina.com) in China on May 23, 2009. Gordinho is also the Leader and Head Coach of the official Evolve Fight Team.

Rolles Gracie is making his Asian debut at the Art of War with many members of the Gracie family in attendance. At Rolles' request, Gordinho will be one of his key coaches. Guests in attendance will be Rickson Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Royler Gracie, Bas Rutten, and many others.

Rankings at Evolve!

In the coming weeks, Evolve expects to promote several students in the BJJ and Muay Thai Programs! Many students have been showing excellent progress through hard work and dedication. The Evolve Instructor Team has been busy evaluating students in the BJJ and Muay Thai Programs for technique, warrior spirit, consistency, teamwork, hard work, and knowledge. If you are a student in either the BJJ or Muay Thai Programs at Evolve, please be sure to push yourself hard to impress the Evolve Instructors in the next few weeks!

The belt ranking system for the official Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program at Evolve is White, Blue, Purple, Brown, and Black with stripes across all belt categories. Authentic Renzo Gracie Belts and Certifications will be awarded with each official belt promotion.

The ranking system for the official Sityodtong Muay Thai Program at Evolve is based on Prajieds (official Muay Thai armbands used in Thailand by professional Muay Thai fighters). Authentic Sityodtong Prajieds and Certifications will be awarded with each of the 7 levels.

The Evolve Sityodtong Muay Thai Instructor Team awarded the promotions based on excellent technical progress, warrior spirit, hardwork, teamwork, and consistent attendance. World Champion Nuengpichit Sityodtong gave out the awards along with Daorung Sityodtong and Chatri Sityodtong.

New Evolve schedule launches in June

Please note that Evolve will be launching a new and expanded schedule on June 1, 2009.

To accommodate the increasing number of Team Evolve members, we will be adding more classes to the schedule and will also be extending our operating hours.

Effective June 1, 2009, Evolve will be open from 730am to 1030pm on weekdays and 1000am to 600pm on weekends.

BJJ World Champion Arrives to Evolve

BJJ Black Belt World Champion, Rafael "Gordinho" Correa de Lima, arrived to Singapore today to join the elite Evolve Instructor Team on a permanent basis.

Rafael will be heading up the Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program at Evolve in addition to his role as a Managing Director for the Company.

He is a Mundials BJJ Black Belt World Champion and is responsible for the course curriculum of the Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program at Evolve Mixed Martial Arts. He brings over 25 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Rafael grew up in Brazil next to the Gracies. He has been a close friend of Renzo's for over 30 years.

Rafael has fought in hundreds of BJJ fights. He was the winner of the 1998 Mundials World Championships in the Black Belt Division. He is also a 4 time National Champion of Brazil (1994-1997) where he was voted the most technical fighter and also had the fastest submission (12 seconds). He is also a runner-up in ADCC Brazil. He has competed and won in numerous other tournaments around the world.

Rafael has taught for many years in Brazil and the US. Prior to Evolve, he was the most senior Black Belt instructor (after Renzo Gracie) at the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York. The Renzo Gracie Academy in New York is the largest BJJ school in the world with over 1200 students in a single location. Rafael was also the Program Director at the school. He is also a sought-after instructor on the seminar circuit around the world.

Widely regarded as one of the most technical Black Belts from Gracie Barra, Rafael holds a 3^rd Degree Black Belt under Carlos Gracie Jr.

Rafael is originally from Brazil.

The Evolve Fight Team makes 2 new additions!

Please welcome Professional MMA fighters from Korea, Tom Yang and Brian Choi, to Evolve! They participated in an open try-out session and have been invited onto the Evolve Fight Team. Tom and Brian will also be Assistant Instructors for MMA, Submission Grappling, and Wrestling.

Tom Yang is a Professional MMA fighter from Korea with a record of 10-1. He is the winner of the Korea Pancrase Tournament in the middleweight division.

Brian Choi is a Professional MMA fighter from Korea with a record of 2-1. He also brings 5 years of US collegiate wrestling experience.

Antonio Braga Neto wins the Pan Ams!

Antonio Braga Neto, an official member of both the Gordo JJ Team and the Evolve Fight Team, won the BJJ Pan American Championships in both the Super Heavyweight and Absolute divisions. Braga is a Rotating Instructor at Evolve from Brazil. He is the current Super Heavyweight Black Belt World Champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Evolve Fight Team Scores Another Win!

Mitch Chilson, a member of the official Evolve Fight Team, scored a spectacular knockout this past week in his latest professional Muay Thai fight in Thailand at the famous Theprasit Stadium. His Thai opponent came into the fight with over 200 professional fights. The Sityodtong Team in Singapore (World Champions Yoddecha Sityodtong and Nuengpichit Sityodtong, Daorung Sityodtong, and Chatri Sityodtong) has been grooming Mitch for stardom ever since Mitch joined the Evolve Fight Team. Mitch's natural athletic ability and raw talent for Muay Thai have made their jobs easy.

With a sensational spinning kick, Mitch delivered a monstrous 2nd round KO to the thunderous applause of the stadium. His opponent was out cold. Yoddecha played the lead role in Mitch's corner. Many members of the Sityodtong Gym in Thailand were present for the fight, including the Grandmaster Kru Yodtong Senanan himself.

Congratulations on a job well done, Mitch!

New Classes Added!

Effective February 1, Evolve will be introducing 2 new classes: FightShape and Muay Thai Sparring.

FightShape is a fitness program designed by Mitch Chilson, the leading authority on Strength and Conditioning in Southeast Asia. It is designed to get you as fit as a professional fighter with the latest exercises and technologies from around the world. We will start with Saturday classes at 1:00pm.

Muay Thai Sparring is an Invitation Only program for students ranked at Muay Thai Level 2 and above. To qualify, you must possess sound fundamentals / technical ability and an Evolve Instructor must invite you to join. It covers the basics of sparring with a live opponent. We will start with Saturday classes at 12:00pm.

BJJ Black Belt Mundials World Champion officially joins Evolve

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Mundials World Champion, Rafael "Gordinho" Correa Lima, officially joined Evolve Mixed Martial Arts to head up the Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Program at Evolve.

Prior to joining Evolve, Rafael was the senior most Black Belt instructor (after Renzo Gracie himself) at the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York. The Renzo Gracie Academy in New York is the world's largest BJJ academy with over 1200 students in a single location. He was also the Program Director for the Renzo Gracie Academy where he worked with Renzo to formulate the Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu system. Rafael was the Mundials World Champion in 1998 in the Black Belt division.

Rafael holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt under Carlos Gracie Jr and is a senior member of Gracie Barra. He is widely viewed as one of the most technical fighters of his era. He is originally from Brazil.

Kru Toy Sityodtong will teach Muay Thai at Evolve for the week of January 20!

As a special treat to Evolve members, we asked Kru Toy Sityodtong to stay in Singapore to teach our evening Muay Thai classes this week! He is the son of legendary Kru Yodtong Senanan, the greatest master of Muay Thai in the history of Thailand. Kru Toy has trained many World Champions and is one of the most senior and technical instructors from the Sityodtong Gym in Thailand. He is also an instrumental part of training UFC fighters in the US on their standup game. He has worked with UFC Contenders Kenny Florian, Patrick Cote, Stephan Bonnar, and many others. Kru Toy has also trained many of the fighters on K-1 including Musashi and Peter Aerts.
