10 Habits To Develop In January For A Successful 2019

The start of a new year is a great time to reflect on the direction your life is headed. It is also a time to celebrate the positive things that you have accomplished so far.

The habits that we develop and nurture often play a huge role when it comes to how successful we are. People who have positive habits that bring them towards their goals are more likely to be successful than those who have bad habits that are counterproductive to their plans.

Here are 10 simple habits that will make 2019 a great year for you:

1) Exercise Often

Find a fun activity that gets your heart pumping and incorporate it into your daily routine. Group activities like martial arts classes are a great way to stay fit.

Enjoy the exhilarating pace of Muay Thai. Become enamored with the science of grappling in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Learn the intricacies of weight and gravity leveraging in wrestling. Whichever martial art you choose to pursue, your body will thank you for it.

Not only will martial arts enhance your physical well-being, but it will also improve your social life. Meet new friends and build lasting relationships with your gym mates. Have loads of fun in each session, learning and experiencing new techniques. Joining a martial arts class will be the best decision you have ever made.

2) Eat Well

The things you eat play a huge role when it comes to the way you feel and perform. Make sure your diet is filled with lots of vegetables, fresh fruits, and fibers. A huge chunk of the calories you consume each day should be high-quality. Lean proteins should make up the bulk of it. Also, make sure you drink lots of water throughout the day. It will keep you hydrated, and it also helps your digestive system.

When your body is properly nourished, you will have all the energy you need to accomplish the tasks you set for yourself each day.

3) Develop A Strong Work Ethic And A Winner’s Mindset

Having a strong work ethic goes a long way when it comes to attaining success. Many good things require lots of effort and life can quickly pass you by if you don’t have a solid work ethic.

Honestly evaluate your current work ethic and ask yourself if there are things that can be done to make you more productive. Learn to prioritize the things that are important for you to attain, and spend most of your time doing things that move you closer to your goals.

Time is the most important asset that you have, and, yes, it’s even more important than money. You can always make more money, but you only have so many hours each day to work towards your goals. Spend less time on social media or streaming sites, and more time on productive tasks that add real value to your life.

4) Be Realistic With Your Goals

When setting goals for a new year, or any other reason, make sure they are realistic. Setting unrealistic goals can lead to disappointment and it can take the wind out of your sails. Instead, set goals that you know you can accomplish. That way, you are more likely to overperform than underperform.

5) Dedicate More Time To Learning About Yourself

Muay-Thai-Gym-Kick

Muay Thai will help you build muscle, burn fat, and develop self-defense skills.

Figuring out what motivates you and what you want in life makes it easier for you to perform at your peak. Figure out what you view as success, why you view it that way, and if it will really bring you happiness when you reach it.

There are no right or wrong answers here. Only answers that will point you in the right direction on your road to success.

6) Treat People The Right Way

You never know when you will bump into someone who will help you move closer to your goals, so just assume everyone you interact with might be that person. That individual you meet at a conference or the stranger you chat with while standing in line at the grocery store might have valuable information or connections that you need. Even if that person can’t help you, it’s good to treat everyone nicely no matter who they are.

Smile often and treat everyone you meet with respect and kindness. In return, most people will treat you the same way.

7) Think Big

Setting realistic goals does not mean you can’t come up with big plans and goals. Your dreams can be as big as you want them to be. Just make sure you come up with a detailed plan on how to move towards that goal and set many milestones. Reaching a milestone will give you a sense of accomplishment and improve your confidence even if you are still a long way from reaching your main goal.

8) Set Daily Goals

Setting daily goals helps to keep you motivated. It doesn’t have to be something extreme, just something you can accomplish each day that moves you closer to what you define as success. Happiness is the result of feeling like you are in control and being able to consistently meet your daily goals makes you feel like things are going as planned.

For example, if one of your objectives is to become a better salesperson, make it one of your goals to spend 30 minutes each weekday reading educational materials on sales. 30 minutes is a small fraction of your day, yet you will learn a lot about sales if you stick to your daily goal for even just a month.

9) Seek Honest Feedback And Evaluate It

One thing most successful people have in common is their ability to listen to feedback and learn from it. Try not to be defensive when you hear things you do not like. Instead, listen to what is being said, figure out if it is accurate and make the necessary adjustments.

Being self-aware helps you to pinpoint your weaknesses and strengths.

10) Get Adequate Amounts Of Sleep

The age-old saying, “Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy and wise,” still holds true. Depriving yourself of sleep might leave you with more hours to get things done, but you would not be as productive as you could be if you were fully rested.

There’s no such thing as catching up on sleep either. Oversleeping for one night doesn’t fully make up for not regularly getting enough sleep.

Come up with a sleep routine that gets you around 8 hours of sleep each night and stick to it. People who go to bed around the same time each night are often more energetic than those with sporadic sleeping patterns – even when the person is getting enough sleep.
