4 Reasons Why Amir Khan’s Fight On May 22 Is The Biggest Fight Of His Life

Evolve Fight Team’s Amir Khan is quickly becoming the most promising Mixed Martial Arts fighter to emerge from Singapore. The 20-year old ONE Championship superstar has been on a roll ever since joining Evolve MMA, stopping every single opponent he’s faced in the ONE cage.

However, Khan’s most recent victory in ONE did not come easy. The young Singaporean prospect was pushed like never before by the very tough and durable Bashir Ahmad before securing the TKO stoppage at ONE: Valor Of Champions.

Now, just 4 weeks after his impressive performance against Ahmad, Khan is set to step into the cage once again. This time, he will be facing top Thai prospect Shannon Wiratchai (3-1) at the Singapore Indoor Stadium this Friday at ONE: Warrior’s Quest.

So as ONE Championship: Warrior’s Quest draws nearer, Evolve Daily reveals 4 Reasons Why Amir Khan’s ONE: Warrior’s Quest Fight is His Most Important One Yet:

1) It will be his first main card fight in home soil.

For Khan, this Friday will not be the first time fighting in his home country of Singapore. He knocked out Pakistani fighter Waqar Umar in a preliminary bout late last year at ONE: Battle Of Lions in Singapore.

However, fighting a formidable opponent like Wiratchai for the first time on the main card in his homeland would no doubt make this fight the most important one of his career. There will be no shortage of support from the fans in Singapore this Friday, and Khan will certainly be looking to live up the home crowd’s expectations.

2) Wiratchai is the best striker he has ever faced.

Of all the talents he possesses as a fighter, Khan’s striking stands out the most. It’s not hard to see why as Khan trains and spars with multiple time Lumpinee Muay Thai World Champions like Sagetdao Petpayathai andOrono Wor Petchpun on a daily basis.

Wiratchai, a southpaw, is a very confident striker and has proven to pack quite a punch in the ONE cage. Khan’s Muay Thai is getting better each time he steps into the cage and he will have the opportunity to prove that once again as he takes on the best striker he has faced yet.

3) Wiratchai is the best takedown artist he has ever faced.

Contrary to what many fans believe, Wiratchai’s best weapon isn’t his striking, but his experience in Judo. The Thai fighter holds a black belt in Judo; making him the best takedown artist Khan has faced yet.

However, in his most recent fight, Khan showed that his work with BJJ World Champions at Evolve MMA has paid off, being able to defend Ahmad’s takedowns, landing his own takedowns and controlling Ahmad several times in their fight.

A fight with an experienced Judoka like Wiratchai is a great opportunity for Khan to show fans just how much he has grown as a mixed martial artist.

4) He must remain on track to the ONE Championship Title.

Khan has never failed to impress fans with his performances in the ONE cage. The rising star is on a three-fight win streak, with all of those wins coming by way of  TKO stoppages. But with so much talent in the ONE featherweight division, Khan must keep this streak alive in order to stay on track to achieve his ultimate goal; to claim the ONE Championship title.

With this being the most important fight of his career, there is no doubt that Khan will be looking to impress and once again prove why he is considered to be Singapore’s top MMA fighter. Don’t forget to catch this exciting match-up and many others live this Friday at ONE Championship: Warrior’s Quest!
