Swank portrayed the character of Maggie Fitzgerald who overcame the odds to become a professional boxer. For the part, the actress shared with media that she put on over 20 pounds of muscle by training in boxing for more than four hours a day with real professional boxing trainers. She also consumed over 4,000 calories per day to get absolutely ripped for the movie.


2) Mark Wahlberg

Ultimate macho male celebrity Mark Wahlberg is one of the biggest Hollywood action stars in history. His roles in Lone Survivor, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and Four Brothers have stamped Wahlberg as a bonafide real action hero.

In 2009 however, Wahlberg landed the lead role in the Oscar-winning film The Fighter, which chronicles the life of former professional boxer “Irish” Micky Ward. To prepare for the role of Micky Ward, Wahlberg underwent actual boxing training, spending a lot of time at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles to workout with fighters like Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao.


3) Demi Lovato

This singer slash actress and former Disney Channel star isn’t just a pretty face. She is skilled in various martial arts, training in a full range of disciplines including boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

In fact, Lovato is so good that some of the trainers at her gym believe she could even fight professionally in MMA if she chose to do so. Whether that is true or not has yet to be seen, however, it just goes to show that you will never know the kind of talent you have unless you explore it.

Aside from training in martial arts, Lovato also loves MMA and has even been linked to former UFC champion Luke Rockhold and Bellator welterweight Guilherme Vasconcelos.


4) Ed O’Neill

One of the funniest actors in the history of film and television, Ed O’Neill is known for his roles such as Al Bundy on Married With Children and most recently, Jay Pritchett on hit sitcom Modern Family. But who would have known that the 66-year-old is actually an accomplished martial artist?

Surprisingly, O’Neill has been practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for the past 22 years. The actor credits the martial art as a source of happiness in his life and makes sure to regularly visit the mats every chance he gets. O’Neill even earned his black belt under BJJ pioneer Rorion Gracie.


5) Denise Richards

The gorgeous actress and mother of three has been a celebrity since 1986, starring in feature roles in films like Starship Troopers, Valentine, and even becoming a Bond girl in 1999’s The World Is Not Enough opposite Pierce Brosnan.
