Former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill once said,
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
Want to build a more meaningful and enriching life for yourself? Then you should consider dedicating a portion of your time to volunteer work. Besides providing support for a cause you’re passionate about, you’ll be doing your part to improve the lives of others who aren’t as fortunate as you.
At Evolve MMA, we strive to change the world for the better by positively impacting the lives of others. That’s why we developed the Evolve Community Outreach Program; to create opportunities for us to give back to society, especially to the less fortunate.
Since 2010, the Evolve Community Outreach Program has been helping the underprivileged by providing free martial arts training, life mentorship, charitable donations, gift drives, as well as sponsored activities like Movie Nights, Bowling Parties, Team BBQs, and more. Evolve MMA has a mission to change this world for the better by making a positive impact on the lives it touches. Inspired by the life of Kru Yodtong Senanan, the Evolve Community Outreach Program is a way for the Evolve Family (students, instructors, World Champions, fighters, and staff) to give back to this world. It is a pro-bono program for various orphanages, youth homes, and charities and a platform to unleash the human potential through the martial arts.
Today, Evolve Daily gives you 7 Reasons Why Everyone Should Be a Part of the Evolve Community Outreach Program:
1) Because you can make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate
When you become a part of the Evolve Community Outreach Program, you’ll be working closely with orphanages, youth homes and charities such as The Boys’ Town Home, Singapore Children’s Society and more.
Engaging in activities and spending time with the people from these organizations is a great way for you to give back to the community. You might not know it, but the time you spend with them could leave a lasting positive impact on their lives.
2) Because you can provide inspiration and hope to someone who needs it
For the less fortunate, life hasn’t been completely smooth sailing. So there might be days when they feel weighed down by life’s uncertainties and the obstacles that they encounter.
Volunteering with the Evolve Community Outreach Program gives you the chance to brighten their days and add some positivity into their lives. As you interact with them, you’ll not only have the power to paint smiles on their faces, but also inspire them. What’s more, your words of encouragement might play a part in giving them the strength to carry on and face each new day with hope.
3) Because you can be a mentor and role model to help shape the future of children
Children are like sponges. They soak up everything that they see and hear around them. The information that they absorb often shapes them as they grow. That’s why it is crucial for them to be exposed to the right kind of information that would ultimately benefit them.
Spending time with these children gives you the opportunity to not only have fun, but inspire them by teaching them things that they can’t typically learn in a classroom. Who knows, you might spark their interest in developing certain skills or even motivate them to try new things that could help them grow.
4) Because you can give time, money or necessities that will change someone’s life
Most of us are fortunate enough to live comfortably, with basic necessities and much more. The simple things that we sometimes take for granted could actually make a great difference in the life of a less fortunate person.
Through the Evolve Community Outreach Program, you can make all kinds of positive contributions – be it your time or basic necessities – to the underprivileged. We believe that all contributions are useful and have the potential to change lives, so never underestimate the value of what you’re about to give!
5) Because you can share your knowledge and life experiences to make someone better
In life, there are times when we make poor choices. However, we are only human and it’s in our nature to occasionally make mistakes. What truly counts is how we bounce back from those shortcomings.
Unfortunately, some people get so caught up in their past that they can’t focus on the present, let alone the future. You might chance upon some of these people while volunteering, so why not spend some time sharing life lessons and giving them advice?
Apart from helping them feel better, you might be able to motivate them to leave the past behind so they can concentrate on what matters – the present.
6) Because it helps you grow as a person
One of the best things about volunteering is that you’ll learn to put others before yourself. When planning activities or spending time with the less fortunate, your main focus would shift from yourself to them and what you can do to put smiles on their faces.
Apart from developing selflessness, you would have opportunities to step up and take charge of your group. Taking on a leadership role would give you the power to share your passion and inspire others while shaping the world in your own special way.
7) Because you will widen your social circle
You’ll meet lots of different people from all walks of life when you’re a part of the Evolve Community Outreach Program. Having a common goal of making the world a better place allows you to easily start conversations and connect with anyone.
Participating in various activities together helps to foster a strong bond between you and your group. The friends you make at the Evolve Community Outreach Program will be awesome lifelong friends that you can hang out with even when you’re not volunteering.
