With so many diets to choose from, it can get pretty confusing to decide which one you should try out or stick to. That’s why most people end up experimenting with a few of them before deciding what works and what doesn’t. Unfortunately, sometimes it can be difficult to figure out if your diet is effective or not.
Perhaps you’ve just started dieting or have been doing so for awhile now, and aren’t too sure whether or not it’s working out. Well, Evolve Daily is here to help! So if you want to learn more about the signs that your diet’s working against you, then read on. Today, Evolve Daily shares 6 Signs That Your Diet Is Just Not Working Out:
1) You’re always tired
Do you wake up exhausted despite getting your 8 to 9 hours of sleep? If this happens on a frequent basis, you might want to re-evaluate your diet habits. Are you fueling up with nutritious meals that keep you energized all day long? A lack of Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, and/or protein, can result in your mid-day slumps, or constant feelings of sluggishness. We suggest keeping your energy levels up with these foods instead.
2) You’re unhappy all the time
If you’re always feeling unhappy, it could be due to a lack of healthy fats. So if you’ve excluded all kinds of fatty foods from your diet in hopes of getting a smaller waistline, this could be what you’re doing wrong! Make it a point to have a balanced diet (yes, with healthy fats included), and you could actually do yourself a favor by melting away body fat and being in a better mood!
3) You have intense cravings
From time to time, we all get random cravings. While it’s perfectly normal to experience this, it’s not normal to get super intense cravings for extended periods of time – especially if it involves the food that you’ve eliminated from your diet. If you have intense cravings for sweet stuff, it could be because your body isn’t getting enough protein. When your cravings are more towards salty foods, it could mean you have a mineral deficiency. So if you find yourself getting intense cravings that last for long periods of time, maybe it’s time to take a step back and figure out what’s missing from your diet, and fix it.
4) You struggle to concentrate
If you find it difficult to focus throughout the day, it could be either due to a lack of sleep or your diet. So if you’re struggling to concentrate despite getting enough sleep, it’s probably due to your diet. For example, when you suddenly go on a raw food vegan diet after so many years, your body would need some time to adjust. However, if over time, you find that you’re unable to concentrate, have brittle nails and hair, or drastic weight loss – then it means that you aren’t getting all the nutrients your body needs. To solve this problem, you could either consult a doctor and take supplements, or alter your diet.
5) You have difficulties in the toilet
Have you been facing problems in the toilet (doing number 2)? Whether it’s Irritable Bowel Syndrome or constipation, you’ll know that your diet is interfering with your digestion. For starters, there’s a good chance that your body isn’t getting sufficient fiber or fat – so make sure you eat at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies daily!
6) You fall ill pretty easily
Your immune system could get compromised if you don’t drink enough water, or consume too much sugar, alcohol, and processed foods. So when this happens, eliminate all these foods from your diet! It would also help to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily (or more, if you lead an active lifestyle!)
If any of these signs sound familiar to you, then perhaps it’s time to ditch your current diet and of course, move on to something else that would benefit your body. Remember, just because a certain diet worked out for someone doesn’t mean it would produce the same results for you. You should also listen to your body, and make the necessary adjustments till you feel 100% again. When in doubt, don’t hesitate to re-evaluate your diet with a professional nutritionist, especially if you’re eating healthy but not feeling so.
