As the brilliant Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “a woman is like a tea bag – you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.” We couldn’t agree more. In fact, we believe that all women are strong and beautiful in their own special way. And that’s why all you ladies out there ought to celebrate yourselves, not only today, but every single day!
To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’ve put together some of ONE Superstar Angela Lee’s most exciting moments in the cage. At just 19 years old, she has already made a name for herself in the MMA world, and is currently undefeated with 5 wins under her belt.
“Mixed martial arts has empowered me to voice my opinions, stand up for others, and be a positive role model for women across the world,” shares Angela. “Martial arts isn’t just a sport – it’s a lifestyle. More women should train martial arts because they’ll not only gain confidence and self-respect, but they’ll also lead a healthier and safer lifestyle.”
Being one of the fastest rising stars in ONE Championship, Angela hopes to empower more women to believe in themselves, and encourage them to learn how to protect themselves.
Ready to get blown away? Today, Evolve Daily shares Angela Lee’s Most Exciting Fights:
1) V.S. Natalie Gonzales Hills
Ah, who can forget that moment when Angela made history by being the first fighter in ONE Championship to successfully execute a twister submission?
She didn’t appear to have a strong start, but fortunately, she was able to think on her feet and put her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills to good use. Hence, she turned the tables and submitted Natalie in the first round.
2) V.S. Aya Saber
Last May, Angela made an impressive debut in the ONE cage and emerged victorious in under 2 minutes, when she took on Aya Saber.
“That was my first fight in ONE Championship,” recalls Angela. “It’s my most memorable fight so far… From that, I was able to establish myself globally and gain a ton of momentum to kick off my fighting career.”
3) V.S. Lena Tkhorevska
“My fight with Lena has been the most challenging one so far, because of her skill, athleticism, and toughness,” reveals Angela.
Despite being a strong opponent, Tkhorevska tapped out in the second round when Angela did a rear naked choke submission. It’s clear that Angela never lets her opponents intimidate her. Instead, she rises up to the challenge and remains focused and strong throughout her fights.
4) V.S. Rebecca Heintzman
With such a strong ground game, there’s no surprise that Angela defeated Heintzman with a neck crank submission in her most recent fight last month. In fact, she has won all 5 of her ONE Championship fights via submission, proving herself to be an excellent submission artist.
“I always look forward to each and every one of my fights,” shares Angela. “I’m really hoping to fight again in May, at home, in front of the Singaporean crowd.”
We’re probably going to enjoy watching Angela’s upcoming fights as much as she enjoys doing what she does best – which is putting up a good fight and impressing us all.
Are you looking forward to Angela’s future fights? Because we most certainly are! With so much dedication and a rock solid work ethic, there’s no doubt that “Unstoppable” Angela would do what it takes to stay on top of her game. Perhaps this something we can all learn from her.
