The entire world is at home, trying to stop the spread of COVID-19 by limiting exposure and flattening the curve. Singapore has followed suit with the circuit breaker period, suspending school, closing places of work, and prohibiting mass social gatherings of any kind. People are encouraged to only leave their homes for essentials like basic needs and medical supplies.
It’s a tricky situation, but one with very clear guidelines. There is no doubt that we will be able to overcome this situation and emerge victorious over the virus if we abide by our governments’ call.
Needless to say, it’s in everybody’s best interest to follow the circuit breaker rules and stay at home to slow the transmission. That’s the only way we beat this COVID-19 pandemic, by staying indoors, keeping a safe distance from each other, and practicing good hygiene.
But there’s always more we can do to combat the spread of this virus. One of the most important things we should be doing during this ‘stay at home’ period is exercising. We should be getting consistent workouts in each and every day. Now, there’s simply no excuse. You have a lot of time on your hands, so you better make the most of it.
There is a myriad of good things that can come about from consistent exercise in these strange and difficult times. Today, Evolve Daily shares four reasons why exercise is so crucial during Singapore’s circuit breaker period.

It simply cannot be overstated, but consistent and regular exercise is essential for good health. With or without the threat of the virus, exercise is so important for our overall well-being. It’s recommended to get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day, whether it’s something intense like High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) or simply walking.
Not only is regular exercise great for weight management and cardiovascular health, it’s also good for the heart. We have to get our heart rate up at least five times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes for good heart health.
Good thing you have help, especially now that you’re stuck indoors.

But don’t overdo it. Getting ample rest is just as important. Too much strenuous exercise can actually lower your immune system, making you more susceptible to viruses.
Needless to say, you should also be consuming a well-balanced diet to go with your workout routine.
3) Change your lifestyle
Once you embark on this health and fitness journey, make it a point to remain consistent and stick to your plan. You’ve always wanted to change your life and live a healthier lifestyle. Now there are no excuses, because you have all the time in the world to get it right. It’s the perfect time to start.

During this stay-home circuit breaker period, it’s easy to get into a funk, and invite negative thoughts into our daily lives. Exercise is very important for our mental health. It keeps our mind right, apart from strengthening our bodies.
