For most working professionals and students, training martial arts at the end of the day or in the evening is the best time to get their workout in. It’s the only time their busy schedule allows it, their mornings and afternoons filled with meetings, classes, and other commitments. It’s also a good time for them to completely focus on their training program because they have nothing else to worry about. Need more convincing? If you’re a working professional or student, here are five reasons why you should end your day by training in a Muay Thai class.
1) Because it helps you sleep better
Ask anyone who’s just attended a Muay Thai class how they feel right after, and they’ll probably tell you that they’re absolutely smashed. After all that hard work, kicking and punching pads and bags, not to mention the skipping and running, you’re bound to feel exhausted! By ending your day with a Muay Thai class, you’ll exhaust yourself to the point of wanting to just curl up in bed after. And you can bet that it’ll feel awesome as you sleep off all the aches. However, be sure you give yourself at least one to two hours before going to bed. This is because your autonomic nervous system needs time to return to its normal state, which might make it difficult for you to fall asleep.

When you’re a working professional under a lot of stress, finding a great way to unwind and put all your worries behind helps a lot. Muay Thai is one of the best ways to relieve stress. It boosts endorphins and it’s an easy way to let your problems out. And because you’re so focused on learning new techniques or getting better at the ones you know, you forget about the stressful day you’ve had at work. When you train Muay Thai, you get to release your stress, so all the negativity and unhappiness is left in the gym. Muay Thai makes you calm, clear, and collected – assets that you could even take to the workplace.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve just started training Muay Thai or if you’re a serious competitor. In fact, it might even make you a better student in the end because now you have the time to drill with a partner or catch up on some extra sparring.
You could even use the time to consult your instructor and ask him any questions you might have about your training progress. And our favorite part? Having the time to enjoy that awesome post-workout hot or cold shower that you rightfully deserve. If you finish early enough, who knows – it might mean that you could squeeze in another class!

According to a study by the University of Chicago, the body’s metabolism adapted better to an exercise routine during the evening. This is because the evening is when two endocrine hormones – cortisol and thyrotropin – increase and glucose level decreases. What’s more, the same study found that those who exercised at night after work achieved a higher level of fitness than those who worked out in the morning – pretty cool stuff! And it just gets better. Those who work out at night feel more compelled to make healthier choices before working out as well as the rest of the night!
At the end of the day, it is our choice when we should work out and when we shouldn’t. We have to make the best decision based on external factors, but the truth remains – making the effort to go to training, no matter what time of the day is always the best choice.
