Boey Yinghao’s life used to revolve around music, and music alone. As a professional drummer, his schedule was packed with gigs, classes and rehearsals. Not including his own self-practice, where Boey would devote at least 7 hours a day to drumming.
Working in the music industry for more than 13 years took a toll on both Boey’s mental and physical health. Constantly worried about job security and changes in the industry, he began to rethink his passion for music.
All these led to stress, weight gain and weariness from his hectic schedule. Fortunately for Boey, the solution to all his problems was as simple as a push kick; martial arts turned out to be the key to a happier, healthier and balanced lifestyle!
Fast forward two years later – Boey has become one of Evolve MMA’s most dedicated students.
I tried out martial arts on a whim, and I had no idea how much it could change my life,” he explains, “ I knew I had to do something to take my mind off things.”
Since joining Evolve MMA, Boey has completely altered his lifestyle. He’s cut down his late nights and practice time to accommodate his training, devoting 2 hours a day or more.
I’m definitely a lot stronger now, and have lost weight for sure, because all my pants finally fit!” Boey laughs.
He has also changed his sleeping and eating habits, in order to make the most out of training. Having a more balanced life has also rekindled Boey’s passion for music, inspiring him to do even better.
As they say, the rest is history. Today, Boey has been nominated by all his instructors to be Evolve MMA’s Student of The Month for December. Boey is considered to be one of Evolve MMA’s most talented and dedicated students. He has earned the rank of level 3 in Muay Thai and has recently received his second stripe in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
The Evolve Family would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Boey on his well-deserved Student of the Month honors. We believe he has what it takes to become successful in martial arts, and we look forward to seeing him continue his journey at Evolve MMA.
Here’s what Boey’s Muay Thai instructor, World Champion Chaowalith Jockey Gym has to say about him:
Boey is definitely fun to teach. He’s improved so much in the past year and a half. I see how hard he works and how much he enjoys training, that’s not something you see everyday.”
