Nong-O Gaiyanghadao’s ONE Super Series Performances Ranked

Multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao from the Evolve Fight Team is one of the world’s most accomplished strikers. His reputation precedes himself and he has garnered a number of accolades over nearly two decades as a professional.

Nong-O began training in Muay Thai when he was just 9 years of age. Over the years, he has come to prominence as one of the best pound-for-pound Muay Thai athletes in the sport today. Known for the incredible speed, power, and precision behind his strikes, Nong-O has put together a myriad of epic performances and highlight reel finishes.

This Friday, 10 May, Nong-O returns home to Bangkok where he defends his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title for the very first time against opponent Hiroaki “Kaibutsukun” Suzuki of Japan in the main event of ONE: WARRIORS OF LIGHT.

They say you’re not a champion until you’ve successfully defended your belt, so a victory for Nong-O on the grandest stage of global martial arts competition legitimizes him as the king of ONE’s bantamweight Muay Thai division.

In Nong-O Gaiyanghadao’s second appearance in the ONE Super Series arena, the Muay Thai legend faced former ISKA & WBC World Champion Mehdi “Diamond Heart” Zatout in a three-round thriller.

Early on, Zatout made it known that he wasn’t going to be an easy out for the veteran, as he dumped Nong-O to the canvas twice. This appeared to have lit a fire underneath Nong-O, as the Thai superstar proceeded to retaliate with thunderous kicks to the head and body.

It seemed that there was no denying Nong-O, as he was a shade faster and more powerful once again throughout the contest.

At the end of the bout, there was no doubt as to who the winner was, with Nong-O setting himself up for an eventual World Title shot. It was the 257th victory of his incredible career, but it was clear that Nong-O was destined for more.


2) Making ONE Super Series debut against Fabio Pinca at ONE: Heroes of Honor

When the prestigious all-striking league ONE Super Series was announced in early 2018, many fans speculated as to who they could possibly see inside the ONE ring. One name that came to mind was Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, a legend in the sport of Muay Thai.

Soon enough, Nong-O made his ONE Super Series debut, taking on French kickboxer Fabio Pinca in the Philippines. Two of the very best Muay Thai champions in the world went toe-to-toe in an exciting war of attrition. In the end, it was Nong-O who emerged victorious in a thorough performance to win by unanimous decision.

What made this bout special was definitely Nong-O’s return to professional competition. Prior to this bout, he hadn’t competed in three whole years and instead spent his time helping guide the next generation of martial arts hopefuls at Evolve MMA.

Turns out, Nong-O showed absolutely no ring rust and was every bit as sharp. It was as if he never stepped away from the call of battle. The Nong-O fans loved was back in action, and put the entire ONE Super Series roster on notice.


1) Defeating Han Zi Hao at ONE: Clash of Legends to capture ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title

Earlier this year, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao took on China’s Han Zi Hao for the inaugural ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship. It was an epic five-round affair which took place in front of Nong-O’s hometown crowd in Bangkok, Thailand.

Before the first round bell even rang, the crowd was already in a frenzy, cheering their martial arts hero on with fervor. When the bout began, Nong-O connected immediately on a stinging left hand followed by a high kick that earned the respect of Han almost right off the bat.

Throughout the rest of the contest, Nong-O was simply the sharper more powerful striker between the two, as he remained a step ahead of Han for the majority of the contest. The Thai legend battered and bewildered his opponent for five whole rounds, showcasing his elite striking skills for all the world to see.

In the end, Nong-O celebrated in the ring as the final bell rang with his hands raised, playing to the energy of the crowd. As the ring announcer made it official, crowning Nong-O the new ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion, the fans in Bangkok erupted in excitement.

It was perhaps Nong-O’s greatest victory of all, embarking on a new reign of dominance in Muay Thai.
