Ouch! Here Are 5 Of The Most Amazing Slam Knockouts In MMA (Videos)

Punches, kicks, elbows, and knees: these are the weapons that cause some of the most vicious knockouts commonly seen in the world of MMA. And though knockouts by way of strikes come often in the sport, no one ever gets bored of the thrill and exhilaration such knockouts provide every single time.

However, no one can deny the extra level of shock and excitement that slam knockouts provide. Slam knockouts are rare and often unpredictable.

So without further ado, here’s Evolve Daily‘s collection of  The 5 Most Amazing Slam Knockouts In MMA:

1) Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s Power-Bomb Knockout Vs. Ricardo Arona

This is arguably the most famous slam knockout in MMA history and one that defines one of the most ruthless fighters in the sport. When Rampage power-bombed Ricardo Arona back in 2004 in PRIDE FC, he created one of the most watched MMA highlights to date. Arona had his legs wrapped around Rampage’s neck and was actually looking to secure a triangle choke hold. But Rampage knew this and decided to end the fight with a power-bomb that would make any fighter think twice about ever applying a triangle choke in an MMA fight.

2) Rustam Khabilov’s German Suplex Knockout Vs. Vinc Pichel

Rustam Khabilov is one of the most decorated Sambo practitioners in MMA. And Khabilov showcased the undeniably deadly art of Sambo, a Russian martial art and combat sport, in his UFC debut against Vinc Pichel. Throughout the fight, Khabilov was able to completely control his opponent with his incredible Sambo, suplexing Pichel twice before the final and most costly suplex of the fight.

3) Frank Shamrock’s Double Leg Takedown Knockout Vs. Igor Zinoviev

Frank Shamrock was one of the biggest names in MMA back in the early days of the UFC. And it’s not hard to imagine why, especially with knockouts like this one. Shamrock was defending his Light Heavyweight belt for the first time against a very tough opponent in Igor Zinoviev at UFC 16. And unlike the other slam knockouts on this list, Shamrock shows that you don’t need a very fancy or over-powering slam to knock the lights out of your opponent. With just 22 seconds into the first round, Shamrock shot for a double leg takedown, secured it, and slammed Zinoviev into oblivion.

4) Sarah Kaufman’s Power-Bomb Knockout Vs. Roxanne Modafferi

Exciting fights and crazy knockouts are frequent occurrences in the world of women’s mixed martial arts (WMMA) as well. And Sarah Kaufman makes this list for owning one of the most brutal slams not just in WMMA, but in MMA as a whole. Similar to Rampage Jackson’s power-bomb slam, Kaufman lifted Roxanna Modafferi up for a power-bomb while she was Modafferi’s guard.

5) Shintaro Ishiwatari’s Pile-Driving Head Slam Knockout Vs. Kazuhiro Ito

For all the MMA fighters out there, think twice before wrapping your legs around your opponent and work on your break fall!
