Are you trying to lose weight but seem to have difficulty doing so? Perhaps you’ve been hitting the gym regularly, or even eliminating your favorite fast food from your diet – but you don’t see the results you want whenever you’re on a weighing scale. If this has been frustrating you, then the good news is that there could be some things you can do to change what’s happening!
Ready to shed those pesky pounds? Today, Evolve Daily shares 7 Reasons Why You’re Not Effectively Losing Weight:
1) You skip breakfast
Whether you’re rushing for work or attempting to lose weight, skipping breakfast might be something you do on a regular basis. If that’s the case, and you happen to want to lose weight, then you must know that skipping breakfast is only going to work against you! This is because having breakfast is a great way to rev up your metabolism first thing in the morning. By skipping it completely, your body would think it is being starved and as a result, hold on to more fat.
2) You snack mindlessly
We’re all guilty of eating in front of the TV or laptop from time to time. But here’s the thing: when you munch on snacks or have your meals in such a setting, you would be distracted by the screen and as a result not be able to focus on how much you’re eating! Hence, you might end up overeating – even when you didn’t intend to. If you really want to lose weight, then it’s best to have your meals or snacks without any distractions, so that you can keep track on your meal portions.
3) You don’t eat enough
Do you skip meals because you think it’s the best way to lose weight? If your answer is yes, then this could be why you’re having a hard time losing weight! As we mentioned earlier (see #1), skipping breakfast (or any meal, actually) can mess up your metabolism. Psst! This might also cause you to feel extremely hungry and as a result, overeat at a later time! Also, if you eat too little, you might end up reaching out for snacks in between your meals.
4) You drink soda frequently
Because soda contains lots of sugar and preservatives, it could add inches to your waistline – and even cause you to look and feel bloated too! (Yes, this includes “diet” sodas, so don’t get tricked by those labels!) It helps to keep yourself hydrated with water throughout the day, so you feel less compelled to reach out for that soda.
5) You don’t drink enough water
This is a problem that quite a lot of people face – especially because some of us don’t have the habit of drinking water regularly. In fact, we only do so when we feel thirsty – but this shouldn’t be the case. Did you know that keeping hydrated can actually play a part in weight loss? This is because water fills you up, so if you have a glass of water before your meal, chances are you’d eat less. What’s more, it has been found that cold water plays a part in boosting your metabolism, so drink up!
6) You don’t get enough sleep
When you don’t get enough ZZZ’s, you not only have a harder time waking up, but losing weight too. This is because a lack of sleep causes you to have uncontrollable cravings for junk food, due to an increased production of hormones that stimulate your appetite. Hence, you’re more likely to reach out for that burger and fries when lunch time rolls around!
7) You only do cardio
If you aren’t aware, strength training is a great way to shed fat. Unfortunately, some people have the misconception that doing so would make them look like the hulk. While you’ll definitely build muscle from strength training, it isn’t easy for you to get super bulky. This is because you’ll mostly be building lean muscles, and these muscles play a part for accelerating your metabolism – due to the fact that they require more fuel for day-to-day activities. That means you’d be burning calories even when you’re at rest! What’s more, strength training also strengthens your joints and prevent injuries – talk about a win-win situation.
