Sagetdao Petpayathai will no doubt go down in history as a legend and one of the greatest Muay Thai fighters to ever walk this earth. Having fought and beaten all the biggest names in Muay Thai, Sagetdao has won every major title in the sport. He is a four-time Lumpinee World Champion, Rajdamnern World Champion, a two-time Max Muay Thai World Champion, WBC Muay Thai World Champion, WPMF World Champion and more.

Calculated, composed, and relentless; Sagetdao is a well-rounded fighter with unmatched technical knowledge and aggression. It’s no wonder why the Thai media voted him as one of the greatest fighters in history.

Today, Evolve Daily takes a look at Muay Thai World Champion Sagetdao Petpayathai’s 4 Best Fights:

1) vs. Saenchai Sinbimuaythai

Saenchai PKSaenchaiMuayThaiGym (previously Sinbimuaythai) is arguably one of the greatest and most well known Muay Thai fighters in history. The living legend remains one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today even after an almost two-decade long reign at the top. For many young fighters in Thailand and around the world, being able to face Saenchai is an honor and privilege.

Sagetdao has build up quite a rivalry with Saenchai over the past few years. The two have faced off a total of six times in their illustrious careers, with both equally matched having three wins over the other. This was their fifth fight, and perhaps Sagetdao’s best performance against the great Saenchai. With incredible timing, patience and precision, Sagetdao outscored Saenchai with combinations of knees, punches, kicks and elbows throughout the fight. In the end, even Saenchai knew that he had lost the bout.

2) vs. Singdam Kiatmuu9

Having beaten all the biggest names in Muay Thai from past and present, Singdam Kiatmuu9 is one of the most revered fighters in the sport today. Here, after coming out as the loser in their first fight, Sagetdao takes on Singdam for the second time. And he wasted no time making sure he would get his revenge. Once again, Sagetdao’s timing and patience proved too much, outsmarting Singdam with counter strikes and combinations to secure the decision win.

3) vs. Victor Nagbe

Towards the end of his Muay Thai career, Sagetdao started to look for more competition outside of Thailand in order to test his skills against the best fighters from around the world. In 2013, Sagetdao entered into the popular MAX Muay Thai Tournament, and as many had expected, tore through the competition with ease.

Here, he takes on Victor Nagbe in the MAX Muay Thai 5: The Final Chapter final. This tournament pits four of the past tournaments’ winners against one another to determine the ultimate champion of the entire year. The fight was a largely one-sided affair with Sagetdao winning on almost every exchange on the feet and in the clinch. This was one of Sagetdao’s proudest moments in his career as he was able to represent his country in one of the most prestigious Muay Thai tournaments in the world.

4) vs. Kevin Ross

In October of 2011, Sagetdao faced off against America’s top Muay Thai fighter Kevin Ross for the WBC Diamond Super Lightweight title. Ross came outscoring with beautiful combinations, determined to claim his first victory against a Lumpinee World Champion.

However, Sagetdao stayed calm and composed, reading his opponent while defending oncoming attacks. After the fight, Kevin Ross credited much of his loss to Sagetdao’s incredibly strategic mindset saying, “He was seeing what he needed to do to get me, he was breaking me down.” And that’s exactly what happened. Sagetdao ravaged Ross relentlessly until he produced a large, nasty cut on Ross’ face with an elbow strike that echoed through the entire arena, forcing the referee to stop the fight.

Muay Thai is without question one of the most deadly and powerful martial arts in the world. But it is also graceful and incredibly technical in its approach at the same time. Sagetdao Petpayathai is a true representation of this, a true master in the ring with flawless technique and deadly precision. Now, he shares his knowledge alongside other Muay Thai legends as part of Asia’s most decorated instructor team at Evolve MMA.
