Ready to take your training to the next level? Today, Evolve Daily shares Pongsaklek Wonjongkam’s Essential Boxing Combinations:

1) WBC World Champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam’s 5 Basic Offensive Combinations

Like with every other martial art, boxing requires you to understand and master the basic techniques before anything else. So make it a point to focus on getting all your basics on point before you even worry about your punching speed and/or power. It helps to check yourself in the mirror when shadowboxing, and of course, approach your instructor if there’s anything you’re unsure about!

In this video, multiple-time WBC Boxing World Champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam shows 5 basic offensive combinations that you can drill with a partner, or on the heavy bag. Notice how Pongsaklek maintains his stance and balance so as to have more fluid movements and power. He also turns his body and pivots his feet when he throws the cross, hook, and uppercut. When he executes any punch, he also keeps his non-punching hand up – so as to protect his face and body.

Tip: You can start off by drilling these 5 combinations, but once you’ve mastered them, don’t be afraid to experiment and mix things up. There’s no fixed sequence when it comes to throwing punches, so go ahead and get creative! When you get used to throwing different combinations, you’d be able to adapt to various situations when you’re sparring or in the ring.

2) WBC World Champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam’s 5 Counter KO Combinations

While it is important to nail down your offensive techniques, you should also ensure that you don’t neglect your defense. After all, boxing is the sweet science of hitting without getting hit! To start off, you have to make sure that you have a solid stance, and that you’re on the balls of your feet at all times, so as to enable swift movement.

In this video, multiple-time WBC Boxing World Champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam demonstrates 5 counter KO combinations. If you watch closely, you’ll notice that Pongsaklek tucks his chin down and keeps his hands up at all times – even when he’s weaving and slipping. This is extremely important because you’d want to make sure that your opponent doesn’t have any openings to attack you. With that said, you should keep an eye for any opportunities to attack as well.

Tip: Practice these combinations with a partner before you proceed to utilize them when sparring, so that you can gain a clearer understanding of distance and rhythm.

Now that you’ve watched these videos, you know what to do next – head to the gym and train hard! Go on, you got this!
