To be 19-years-old and headlining a world-class event witnessed by millions of people is an unfathomable concept. Yet for multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion Yodcherry Sityodtong from the Evolve Fight Team, it’s a reality that she will face head-on in the coming days.
Yodcherry is set to make her highly-anticipated ONE Super Series debut this Saturday, 7 July in the main event of ONE: BATTLE FOR THE HEAVENS set for the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China. She will face Chinese Taipei’s “Killer Bee” Kai Ting Chuang in ONE Championship’s first ever female Super Series contest, for the inaugural ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship.
At such a young age, Yodcherry is already accustomed to competing on the highest level of competition, having won multiple Muay Thai world championships in the biggest stadiums in her native Thailand. This time, however, ONE Championship offers a much larger audience reach with over 1.7 billion potential viewers in over 136 countries, and Yodcherry is out to prove that age is nothing but a number.
“I am very excited and grateful to be competing for the first ever ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Championship,” said Yodcherry.
“I’ve fought and won World Championships in Thailand but ONE Championship is definitely the biggest stage I will have competed on. People say that being 19 I am quite young, and I suppose they are right. However, I have been competing in Muay Thai since I was 6 years old so I do have experience.”
Having made a name for herself in the Muay Thai circuits back home in Thailand, Yodcherry has long been on ONE Championship’s radar. When ONE Super Series was announced earlier this year, it provided the most opportune time for Yodcherry to make her grand entrance.
The young superstar recently moved to Singapore to become a member of the prestigious Evolve Fight Team, joining the ranks of World Champions such as Angela Lee, Alex Silva, Shinya Aoki, and Ben Askren. As such, Yodcherry has been upgrading her overall skills since then, working with some of the best martial arts talents in the world.
“I have been visiting Evolve MMA regularly since I was young and permanently moved to Singapore at the start of 2018. I have been preparing for my ONE Championship debut since then,” said Yodcherry.
“This year has been an intense year of training an I’m excited that my debut is finally here! Training with all the World Champions at Evolve MMA and seeing them compete in ONE Championship has made me even more excited for my debut.”
Although she is definitely young, Yodcherry has certainly not lacked in experience, boasting of an 81-18-1 professional record. And she knows enough never to underestimate her opponents. Standing across from her in the ONE Championship ring this weekend will be Kai Ting Chuang, a former 2-time WAKO Kickboxing Champion with a 16-5 professional record.
Chuang, who herself is just 23 years of age, will look to spoil Yodcherry’s party and score the upset.
“My opponent Kai Ting Chuang will be a good test for me. She is an experienced boxer and I expect her to have good hands. I’m excited to challenge myself against her,” Yodcherry reveals.
“As a fighter, I think my experience and my fighting spirit are two of my biggest strengths. I’ve fought 100 times and had to deal with many different opponents and situations. I’ve even had to deal with pressure from the crowd and Muay Thai gamblers in Thailand. No matter what happens in a bout, I never give up. I’ve been taught from a young age to always give it my all and fight until the end.”
By the time she steps into the ONE Championship ring this Saturday, the entire world will be watching. Broadcasting live on sports networks around the globe, and absolutely free on the ONE Super App, Yodcherry will be ready to climb the ring apron and showcase the skills that made her an instant superstar in Muay Thai, and a 19-year-old martial arts prodigy.

The sheer scale and magnitude of the event cannot be understated, yet Yodcherry remains unfazed. At the end of the night, she is confident her hand will be raised in victory, and she will be crowned the first ever ONE Super Series Kickboxing Atomweight World Champion.
“I would describe my feelings as excited more than nervous,” Yodcherry concluded.
“ONE Championship is a huge global event that many people around the world watch. To be able to show the world my skills is very exciting for me and I can’t wait to get into the ring this weekend.”
