For example, executing the textbook punch in boxing involves focusing on proper movement and footwork, as well the correct way to transfer power from the base to the fist. Whatever martial art we practice, developing proper technique is a must. In doing this, we actually directly enhance our focus because this synchronizes our mind and body.

Sometimes, it’s just best to unplug and leave our digital lives behind for a short period each day.

3) Take a break from work and attend to your distractions

This is completely opposite to number two on this list, but also equally as effective. Instead of succumbing to distraction, embrace it. Is social media always on your mind? Get right to it.

Instead of glancing back and forth at your mobile phone, take a step back, and dive right into it. Sometimes, our distractions can be just what we need to take our mind off stress and work. Take some time out to catch a nice movie, get a massage, catch up with friends, or just simply do nothing and relax. Enjoy the peace and tranquility — anything that can peel your mind away from work.

With so much going on, a lot of our personal lives intertwine with our business lives that it’s hard to draw the line. Taking time off from stress and work means we replenish our mental energy, which significantly improves our focus.

 

4) Find a quiet place to work

5) Get ample rest each day

Staying focused is an important aspect of martial arts.

 

The inability to maintain focus and concentration is directly related to the amount of sleep an individual gets. So we can’t really stress this enough, but try to get as much sleep as you can every night.

Human beings need rest, it’s basic science and nature. Six to eight hours is ideal for the average adult. Anything less than that and it will affect our daily performance.

Sleep deprivation is also known to cause obesity, which in turn has many effects on our physical and emotional state of being. Not getting enough sleep makes sure that we are sluggish and lethargic throughout the day, not particularly sharp, and completely out of focus.
