2) Wheeler’s Yard

Known for its “instagram-worthy” blue metal entrance gate, the relatively new Wheeler’s Yard is quickly becoming recognized as one of the coolest cafes in Singapore. Occupying an entire warehouse in a corner of the Balestier area, Wheeler’s Yard is an all-in-one bicycle atelier, workshop and café.

Whether you’re an avid or casual cyclist, you’ll be impressed and tempted by the large selection of handmade urban bicycles in an array of colors and sizes. You can even have your own bicycle refurbished by their experienced mechanics! 3) Kombi Rocks

If you’re a vintage lover, then you’ve got to check out Kombi Rocks café located in Yio Chu Kang Road. This beautiful 1950s shophouse is filled with vintage memorabilia, toys, watches, clocks, guitars, fans and bicycles as props for the café’s interior décor.

And parked just outside along the roadside of the café is a fleet of mint-condition vintage Kombis, Veedubs, cars and bikes for rental purposes. If you aren’t interested in renting, you can hold a photoshoot there or simply help yourself to the delicious Asian food being served in the café.

4) Kampong Buangkok

Kampong Buangkok is a place you have to visit if you’re looking for a perfect, authentic experience of Singapore’s humble beginnings. Kampong Buangkok is widely considered by the locals as the last surviving “Kampong” (village) in Singapore.

The “Kampong” is home to no more than 30 families living in colorful houses mostly made of wood with zinc coated roofs. And in traditional “Kampong Spirit”, the locals living there would be more than happy to give you a tour of the area and help you learn more about what it was like growing up in the early days of Singapore.

With a collection of retail shops, food stalls, prawn fishing ponds and an animal corner, Farmart Centre is the perfect place to escape and relax. The centre is also home to the Uncle William Farm Tours, which offers tours such as short talks on quail egg farming and full day tours to the Kranji and Lim Chu Kang area. On weekends and public holidays, the animal corner allows children to come up close and personal with the farm animals as well.
