The Undying Legacy of Kru Yodtong Senanan

In the fall of 2005, a well-respected man from a small town located along Thailand’s eastern seaboard had just claimed US$2 million, the reward for winning the first prize in the lottery. A divine gift? Or perhaps, just a stroke of pure luck; it did not matter to this man. He decided that the blessing he had received would not be his own.

He made headlines across the entire country, and announced that he would donate his newfound wealth to those in need. And over the next few days, hundreds of letters flowed in, with people from all parts of the country flocking to his home, requesting for his help.

He listened to all their stories of poverty. And he gave each of them what he saw fit, all till he was left with almost nothing. What would move a man to give so much? This was the question many would have asked themselves of Kru Yodtong Senanan; A Muay Thai Grandmaster, a legendary trainer of champions, and above all, a man with a heart filled with compassion and a genuine desire to help others.

Perhaps, giving so much away was not so hard for a man whose whole life was about sharing his blessings with others. Through the art of Muay Thai, Kru Yodtong changed the lives of thousands of impoverished children and orphans. Above all, he taught his students the value of a life lived for others.

An Undying Legacy

Kru Yodtong’s place in the world of Muay Thai is legendary. No other man in history has produced the number of Muay Thai World Champions that he has. Legendary fighters like Samart Payakaroon, Yodsanan SityodtongRob Kaman, Ramon Dekkers, and Ernesto Hoost became who they are today because of Kru Yodtong.

However, his legacy is defined not just by the numerous World Champions he has produced, or his status as a Muay Thai Grandmaster, but also by the thousands of lives he has touched over the years.

Today, even after his passing, his legacy is carried on by the very people he has helped throughout his life. Evolve MMA‘s founder, Chatri Sityodtong, is one of these people. The World Champions of Evolve MMA continue to share the art of Muay Thai to thousands of students around the globe.

Evolve MMA also carries out the legacy of Kru Yodtong with its Community Outreach Program. Since 2010, the program has helped the less fortunate and underprivileged, which includes orphanages, youth homes, and various charities. The program works as a platform for the Evolve Family to give back those who come from similar circumstances through the power of martial arts.

Almost every instructor and World Champion at Evolve MMA has come from a life of hardship and poverty with very little food and shelter. But through the power of martial arts, they overcame all odds and achieved a better life for themselves.
