“I am the greatest. I said that even before I knew I was.” – Muhammad Ali
We’re pretty sure you know by now, that the world has just lost the G.O.A.T in boxing, Muhammad Ali. He will definitely be remembered as a legend, and a force to be reckoned with in the ring; as well as a cultural icon who has touched the hearts of people all over the world. His unbreakable warrior spirit was what kept him going – regardless of whether he was in or out of the ring – and eventually, it made him the greatest boxer of all time.
When Ali was at the highest point of his boxing career, he got arrested, banned from boxing in every state, and was stripped off his passport – simply because he was a devout Muslim. His refusal to kill other human beings in the Vietnam War due to his religious beliefs, motivated the U.S. Government to bring him down. But despite their attempts to throw him in prison and ruin his life, Ali soldiered on. He stayed true to his beliefs and fought for himself, his religion, and his values. All his efforts eventually paid off as he eventually got his boxing license reinstated by the New York State Boxing Commission due to a victory in federal court.
Throughout his career, Ali fought a total of 61 bouts, and won 56 of those fights. Of which, 37 were by knockout. Ready to re-live some of the greatest moments in boxing history? Then watch Muhammad Ali’s Top 10 Most Spectacular Knockouts:
