Without a doubt, the best Muay Thai fighters in the sport can be found on the ONE Super Series stage. Let’s take a look at a handful of them.

Today, Evolve Daily shares five of the biggest Muay Thai stars in ONE Super Series.

1) Rodtang Jitmuangnon

They call him “The Iron Man” because of his ruthless and aggressive fighting style. He walks right through his opponent’s most powerful combinations, beats his chest and demands more action. Reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon is hands down the most exciting fighter in ONE Super Series.

Rodtang picked up Muay Thai at the age of 7, and had his first professional fight at the age of 10. Not long after, he found himself honing his skills at the famed Jitmuangnon Camp in the nation’s capital city of Bangkok. By the time Rodtang turned 21 years of age, he had already won over 250 fights, capturing the prestigious Omnoi Stadium World Title twice.

He joined ONE Super Series in 2018, embarking on a reign of terror that has seen him go undefeated in the promotion, along the way snatching the Muay Thai title from the United Kingdom’s Jonathan Haggerty in 2019.

2) Nong-O Gaiyanghadao

Reigning ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao is a living legend in the sport of Muay Thai. He is a member of the Evolve Fight Team and an accomplished veteran who has spent nearly two decades putting together excellent performances in Thailand’s most prestigious fighting arenas.

Known for his explosive power, superior speed, and surgical precision in his strikes, Nong-O is considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today.

In fact, throughout his career, Nong-O has captured nearly every major award and accolade in the discipline. He is a five-division world champion, a four-time Lumpinee champion, a Rajadamnern champion, and a two-time Thailand national champion. He is also a three-time ‘Fighter of the Year’ winner.

Nong-O was one of the first fighters who joined ONE Super Series in 2018. He captured the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title with a unanimous decision victory over Han Zi Hao in 2019, and has since defended the belt successfully four times.

3) Sam-A Gaiyanghadao

Also a member of the famed Evolve Fight Team, reigning ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao is one of the most accomplished fighters on the ONE roster. With a storybook career spanning more than 400 fights, Sam-A is a multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion and is widely considered one of the best fighters in the history of the sport.

Known for his impeccable defense and counter offense, Sam-A has captivated the hearts of fans in Thailand’s biggest stadiums. He is a multiple-time former Lumpinee champion at super flyweight and bantamweight, and a Thailand national super flyweight, super bantamweight, and bantamweight champion. He is also the former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion.

Sam-A joined ONE Super Series in 2018. After emerging victorious in his first fight for the promotion, Sam-A defeated Sergio Wielzen for the flyweight belt in his next fight. Although he surrendered the title to Haggerty in 2019, Sam-A bounced back in spectacular fashion, winning the Strawweight Muay Thai and kickboxing title just months apart.

4) Tawanchai PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym

Some say he’s the most popular fighter in all of Thailand today. But regardless of where you rank him, calling Tawanchai PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym one of the most talented Muay Thai practitioners in the world is irrefutable. Many consider Tawanchai one of the most exciting strikers in all of combat sports, right next to Rodtang.

Born in the coastal town of Pattaya, Tawanchai picked up Muay Thai when he was just 8 years of age. At the age of 14, he moved to Bangkok and debuted at Lumpinee Stadium. Shortly after his move, he started training at the renowned PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym where he now sharpens and hones his skills.

Now just 22 years old, Tawanchai is a young fighter with an entire career ahead of him.

Tawanchai just recently joined ONE Super Series, making his debut against Sean Clancy in May of 2021. He won the fight, scoring an emphatic third-round knockout behind a dominant performance.

5) Jonathan Haggerty

When Jonathan Haggerty made his ONE Super Series debut in 2019, experts called him “the future” of Muay Thai. It’s not hard to see why. Haggerty is a masterful technician in the ring, pinpoint with his laserlike combinations, and undeterred with his warrior heart. The man they call “The General” is a commanding force in the ring, and one of the most talented Muay Thai fighters today.

Haggerty grew up in a rough neighborhood on Walworth Road in London. To protect himself from being bullied, he began training in Muay Thai at the age of 7, honing his skills under his father. He started competing in the amateur ranks at the age of 12.

Not long after, Haggerty saw success in the ring, becoming a multiple-time English and British champion, before adding a European regional title to his growing collection.

He captured the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title in 2019 with a unanimous decision victory over the legendary Sam-A, but surrendered the belt to Rodtang in his next fight. Haggerty is currently on the comeback trail, and looking to battle his way back into title contention.
