Ever wonder what World Champions do to make sure that they’re always in the best shape of their lives? Training regularly and constantly giving 100% at the gym are of course, necessary. After all, practice makes perfect. But besides that, what else can you do to elevate your game, and more importantly – stay on top of it?
1) Make training a priority
Despite having to shuttle between Hawaii and Singapore, the Lee siblings are always in great shape. This is because they prioritize their training, and always find a way to work out.
“All you need is 1 to 2 hours a day to get a good workout in,” reveals ONE Superstar Christian Lee. “We try to stay in shape by fitting in workouts or training sessions between our busy schedules.”
2) Stay focused and disciplined
Apart from consistent training, Angela and Christian always make it a point to train wholeheartedly and give their all to every session. It’s evident that hard work pays off, because that’s what got them to where they are today. Also, they always remain focused and disciplined – whether they’re in the gym or not.
“There’s a very drastic change between our cutting weight diet and our normal diet,” shares Christian. “When we’re fighting, we eat very clean. So we avoid processed foods and make sure that we’re eating complex carbs and lots of vegetables.”
“When we aren’t fighting, we eat everything in sight!” Angela adds.
There’s no doubt that it takes a great deal of willpower to make the necessary adjustments to cut weight, but the Lees always have their eyes on the goal – and that’s what keeps them focused and disciplined.
3) Get enough sleep daily
Ever notice that you always feel great after a good night’s sleep? Well, quality sleep not only helps you stay alert, but also lowers your stress levels and helps you maintain a healthy weight. When you don’t get enough sleep, your health would suffer. After all, your body needs adequate rest in order to recharge, so you can seize the day!
“Sleep is a very important part in recovery,” says Angela. “So we make it a point to get around 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night.”
4) Stay hydrated throughout the day
It’s no secret that everyone needs water to function, and more importantly, survive. Besides flushing out toxins, water also helps your body’s various systems function well.
As the Lee siblings lead a very active lifestyle, they understand that they have to drink enough water everyday, in order to maximize their performance.
“Staying hydrated helps us perform better in training and gives us more energy throughout the day,” shares Christian. “We try to drink at least 1 gallon of water daily.”
5) Stop making excuses
It’s obvious that there’s no room for excuses when it comes to the Lees’ training, or life in general. No matter how tough things get, Angela and Christian always find a way to get past their obstacles. They strongly encourage everyone else to cut excuses out of their lives, too.
“If you’re looking to get in shape or start working out, I would say to start now,” advises Christian. “People often tell themselves that they’ll start eating clean on Monday, or go for a run over the weekend… But usually that’s your mind’s way of giving yourself a way out.”
“Just start now and take little steps every day to improve your health and self-betterment,” says Angela. “Before you know it, you’ll see a huge improvement.”
