Interested in losing those pesky 5 kilos you just can’t seem to get rid of no matter what? Yes,we know exactly how that goes. We know you’ve tried everything – those crazy cleanses or even those diets that cut out entire food groups (or sometimes even the entire food pyramid). You’re at the brink of frustration and it’s not hard to see why.

Today, Evolve Daily gives you 5 awesome tips to kickstart your weight loss journey. Don’t worry, it’s nothing crazy. It’s just 5 simple changes to your diet and exercise regimen—stuff that you can deal with and fit into your lifestyle seamlessly. Remember, the more of these tips you follow, the sooner you’ll lose the weight!

1) Extra cardio.

In order to cut weight for a fight, many fighters throw on a sweatsuit and start clocking in those extra miles to burn the extra kilos. Since you aren’t thinking of stepping into the ONE Championship cage anytime soon, you don’t have to go to this extreme.

All you need to do is add extra cardio into your exercise routine! Whether you’re a ONE Championship fighter or a white belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, extra cardio is truly one of the easiest ways to burn those calories. Simply add 30 minutes to whatever cardio based routine you have now and you’ll see results instantly!

2) Make your plate colorful.

Diversify, diversify, diversify! The more colors you have on your plate, chances are, the healthier your meal will be. Instead of your whites, browns and yellows, why not add some vibrant greens, oranges, reds and purples?

As simple as it may sound, it is the easiest way to start eating healthy and start shedding those unwanted kilos. It will also help boost your metabolism and your immune system too!

3) Eat three balanced meals throughout the day, with two snacks in between.

Time and again, we’ve heard that we should eat six small meals a day for optimal nutrition and weight-loss. Apparently, six small meals are metabolized faster than three big meals, helping us lose weight even faster. Why not stick to your normal three meals a day with two healthy snacks in between.

After all, it’s about quality not quantity. Make sure that your meals are well balanced, with the right amount of protein, complex or good carbs and vegetables. This way, you won’t have to worry about meal prepping like crazy for the entire week!

4) Start cooking your own meals.

It’s easy to get tempted when you dine out. There are just too many options when it comes to entrees, appetizers, dessert, drinks… and it gets even harder when you’re hungry! You just want to order everything!

Don’t fall into the clutches of temptation and cook your own meals at home instead. This way, it will be easier to control your portions and keep your plate colorful. This time, it’s you who’s in control, not a chef in a kitchen.

5) Give up something bad.

Tell us, what’s your weakness? Is it chocolate chip cookies, bacon, sleeping in, or skipping training days? You know that you shouldn’t, but sometimes it’s just too difficult to resist.

Instead of going completely cold turkey, why not give up one bad habit at a time? This way, you won’t feel too bad about giving up your favorite snack or indulging yourself every once in awhile.

Remember, there’s no point in torturing yourself. You won’t stick to it if you do! The simpler you make things for yourself, the easier it will be to change your lifestyle and lose those unwanted kilos. Take it one step at a time, then two, then three – next thing you know, you’ve completely taken your weight loss journey to a whole new level. Good luck! We believe in you!
