Throughout the Muay Thai and MMA community, the name Saenchai PKSaenchaiMuayThaiGym (formerly Saenchai Sor. Kingstar) has become synonymous with the cartwheel kick, a move he is credited for inventing. Based off the Southeast Asian sport of Sepak Takraw, or kick volleyball, this kick and many versions of it can be seen in many Muay Thai and MMA fights.
In this video, Muay Thai legend Saenchai demonstrates 3 different cartwheel kick combinations. As with many of the techniques Saenchai is known for, the cartwheel kick requires a lot of technical finesse, balance and timing. Although this move appears to be more gymnastics than Muay Thai, it is definitely a technique that is guaranteed to leave your audience (and your opponent) in awe.
Known to fight bigger and tougher opponents, there is no doubt that Saenchai truly exemplifies the art of Muay Thai. Through his technical prowess, counterattacks and trickery, there has yet to be a fighter that matches his talent.
